AMBER Alerts

AMBER Alerts

From the Moment a Child is Abducted, Every Second Counts.
Nextel, in cooperation with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), CTIA-The Wireless Association and The Wireless Foundation, is proud to offer customers free AMBER Alerts to any Nextel phone.
Issued in the most serious child abduction cases, an AMBER Alert is an emergency broadcast communication designed to instantly mobilize the entire community to assist in the search for, and safe return of, an abducted child. Official alerts will be sent as a text message to active Nextel phones and wireless devices that have been signed up for the service.1

How to Update Your Alert Locations
When local law enforcement initiates an AMBER Alert, they target it toward several counties or an entire state. Now, you can designate up to five locations for which you want to receive AMBER Alerts. If any of your locations are within the target area, you'll receive the alert. Due to the broad coverage of each alert, you should only include locations where you spend a large amount of time.
For your convenience, the first location will be based on your current Nextel number and loaded automatically for you. If you'd like to add another state or metropolitan area, you can do so below.
